Birmingham & West Midlands

Two cultures marrying is not twice the work. It is a different job altogether — and most of it happens before the day, in the planning.

Sikh and Christian. Hindu and Muslim. Indian and English. Nigerian and Punjabi. Caribbean and Gujarati. We have photographed these weddings across Birmingham and the West Midlands for over 20 years, and the pattern is consistent: both families want to see their own traditions honoured properly, and both are quietly worried the other side will take over.

A photographer who only knows one of the two cultures will unintentionally favour it. That shows up later in the album, and families notice.

What changes

What makes a fusion wedding different to photograph

Two ceremonies, often two days

A church service and an Anand Karaj. A Nikah and a civil ceremony. A Mandap and a registry office. Each has its own etiquette, its own light and its own rules about where a photographer may stand. We check both, separately, in advance.

Two sets of family expectations

One side may expect formal, posed group photographs of every branch of the family. The other may expect the photographer to be invisible. Both are reasonable and both need accommodating, which means agreeing the group list and the approach with both families rather than one.

Etiquette that cannot be guessed

Heads covered in a Gurdwara. Shoes off at a temple. No photography during certain prayers. Where alcohol is and is not present. Which relatives must be photographed together and which should not be seated together. Getting this wrong is not a photography mistake, it is a social one.

A timeline that has to serve both

Fusion weddings are where timelines break. Two ceremonies, two venues, two sets of travel and one set of daylight. We plan the couple portraits around whatever light actually remains, and we tell you early if the schedule you have been given does not work.

Our background

Why we are suited to this

Our work has never been limited to one community. Across 2,500+ weddings and events we have covered Christian, Sikh, Hindu, Muslim, Indian, African, Caribbean and mixed-heritage weddings in Birmingham, the West Midlands, across the UK and internationally.

Between the team we speak English, Punjabi, Hindi, Gujarati and Kiswahili. On a fusion day that is not a marketing line — it is how the groom’s grandmother gets told where to stand without anyone having to translate for us.

Specific traditions are covered in detail on our Sikh, Hindu, Muslim, Punjabi and Indian wedding pages.

Planning

How we plan a fusion wedding

  • We meet both families’ priorities separately, because they are rarely identical and rarely volunteered in a joint conversation.
  • We confirm the rules at each venue or place of worship ourselves rather than relying on what the couple has been told.
  • We build one timeline covering both ceremonies, and flag the point where it will overrun before it does.
  • We agree two group photograph lists, one per side, and merge the overlap.
  • We agree what is and is not photographed, and what may be shared publicly afterwards.

Almost all of this is a conversation, not a cost. It is also the difference between a day that runs and a day that argues.

Photography and film

One team across both ceremonies

Fusion weddings are the clearest case for a single supplier. Two ceremonies in two places on one day leaves no room for suppliers who do not know each other.

One team means one timeline, one set of group photographs, consistent grading across both ceremonies, ceremony audio recorded properly in both, and one person accountable for the whole day. See wedding film coverage.

Investment

Multicultural wedding photography prices

Wedding photography from £850 — five hours of coverage.

Photography and cinematic film from £1,500.

Two ceremonies, two venues or two days are quoted individually, because no fixed package covers that honestly. See current pricing or the packages.
