A useful wedding photography package starts with your plans. Before comparing a list of extras, work out which parts of the celebration you want covered, where they take place and who needs to be there.

Write down your coverage priorities

List your preparation locations, ceremony, reception and any separate events. Add approximate start and finish times. Tell your photographer which parts are essential and where you have flexibility.

For multi-day celebrations, describe each event separately. A short home ceremony, an evening celebration and a full wedding day can have different staffing and coverage needs.

Decide how many people you need

Consider whether both partners are preparing in separate places or whether events overlap. One photographer cannot be in two locations at once. A second photographer may cover another location, additional angles or family reactions, depending on the agreed plan.

If you want film, ask who will be filming and how the team will coordinate. Confirm each person’s role rather than assuming every camera operator is providing both photography and video throughout the day.

Choose the finished products

Separate the coverage from the products you want afterward. Edited photographs, gallery access, wedding albums, highlights films and full ceremony recordings should each be described clearly. Check the album size and design process if an album is included.

Ask about delivery expectations, extra hours, travel costs and any optional additions. Avoid comparing two totals without checking the hours, team and deliverables behind them.

Put the agreement in writing

Your proposal and booking terms should confirm the dates, locations, coverage hours, team, payment schedule and cancellation arrangements. Raise questions before booking so both sides have the same expectations.
