Ikonic Media Solutions offers engagement and pre-wedding photoshoots in Birmingham and the West Midlands, led by photographer Diven Laxman. Sessions combine gentle posing guidance with space for natural interaction, whether you want photographs for your save-the-dates or simply to remember being engaged.
You don’t have to arrive knowing what to do with your hands. We can start with a walk, a conversation and a few easy prompts. As you settle in, there is time for the quieter portraits too.
A session before your wedding also gives you a chance to get comfortable with the camera and see how we work together. Tell us what you love about your favourite photographs, and what you would rather avoid.

With up to 3 outfits, professional posing guidance and a carefully chosen location, we create a mix of romantic, editorial and cinematic photographs that feel personal to you.
Private Portable Changing Room Included
One of the biggest problems with outdoor pre-wedding shoots is finding somewhere private and convenient to change outfits.
That’s why we bring our portable changing room directly to the location.
No driving around looking for toilets.
No changing in the car.
No wasting valuable shoot time travelling between places.
You can comfortably change outfits on-site and make the most of your full photography session.
You’ll also receive a beautifully created photo slideshow to share with family, use during your wedding celebrations or simply keep as part of your story.

What kind of session feels right?
An engagement shoot usually focuses on couple portraits before the wedding. A family engagement celebration needs a different plan. We welcome Sikh, Hindu, Muslim, Christian, multicultural and non-religious couples, and ask about your preferences rather than assuming them.
Relaxed couple portraits
Everyday clothes, a favourite walk or a city backdrop. A simple session gives you room to get used to the camera and create photographs for your home or wedding announcements.
Styled pre-wedding photography
Traditional clothing, up to three outfits or a more editorial feel. Share your ideas so we can consider the light, changing arrangements and the time each look needs.
Engagement celebrations
For a roka, mangni or a gathering with family, tell us about the ceremony and important people as well as the portraits you want. Event coverage is quoted separately around the occasion.

Where should we have our engagement shoot in Birmingham?
Birmingham offers city streets, canals and green spaces for very different photographs. These are location ideas to discuss, not a fixed route or a claim that every photograph on this page was taken there. Your final choice depends on access, light, weather and permission.
Cannon Hill Park
A green setting to consider if you prefer trees and a relaxed walk to a city-centre scene. Plan for other park visitors and choose a route that works with your outfits and mobility.
Jewellery Quarter
Brickwork and street scenes can suit an understated, editorial look. Discuss the walking distance and any indoor stop before settling on the plan.
Gas Street Basin
Canalside surroundings offer a different city backdrop. Towpaths remain shared spaces, so the shoot needs to allow safe passage and respect the location’s rules.
Digbeth
A possible choice for colour, street art and a less formal feel. Backgrounds and access can change, so choose the specific setting during planning.
Sutton Park
Consider this for a natural setting with more space around you. Comfortable shoes and a realistic walking route matter, particularly with a change of outfit.

Winterbourne House and Garden and Birmingham Botanical Gardens are options to enquire about. Confirm photography bookings, fees and access directly with the venue before committing.
Public access is not automatic permission for a professional shoot. Photography fees, opening times and equipment restrictions can change. Agree any costs and permissions before your booking.

Agree the location, outfits and timings. We bring a private portable changing room to your location. We discuss its set-up, access, permission and a weather alternative before the day, with the details set out in your booking.

Enjoy the session
We guide you through the photography, then prepare your professionally edited online gallery and photo slideshow. The usual full-gallery turnaround is three to four weeks; confirm the delivery date for your session.
What should you wear?
Choose clothes you like yourself in and can move comfortably in. Complementary colours usually feel more natural than identical outfits. If you are wearing a lehenga, sari or sherwani, allow time for styling and bring comfortable shoes for walking between photographs.
When should you book it?
Work backwards from the date you need the pictures. Leave room for the shoot, editing and any printing. Morning or late-day light can create a softer feel outdoors, but your location and the season should guide the final time.

What is the difference between an engagement shoot and a pre-wedding shoot?
Both describe a portrait session before the wedding, usually focused on the couple rather than a ceremony. A pre-wedding shoot may involve more styling, locations or traditional clothing. Coverage of a roka, mangni or family engagement celebration is a different brief, so tell us whether you need couple portraits, event coverage or both.
How long does an engagement session last?
The £350 pre-wedding package includes two hours at one location, with up to three outfits. A private portable changing room is brought on-site so you can change without travelling elsewhere. We plan the session timings with you in advance.
Where can we have engagement photographs taken in Birmingham?
Possible backdrops include Cannon Hill Park, the Jewellery Quarter, Gas Street Basin, Digbeth and Sutton Park. Winterbourne House and Garden or Birmingham Botanical Gardens may suit a garden setting, subject to their photography arrangements. We choose the final location around your preferences, access, weather and any permission required.
Do we need permission or a photography permit?
Permission depends on the location and how the shoot will be carried out. Public access does not automatically mean permission for a professional photoshoot. Check the venue or landowner’s current requirements before booking, including photography fees, access times and restrictions on lighting. We discuss these arrangements when planning your session.
We are camera-shy. Will you help us pose?
Yes. We guide you with simple prompts, comfortable movement and time to settle in. You do not need modelling experience or a rehearsed pose list. Tell us about anything you feel self-conscious about before the shoot so we can plan with that in mind.
What should we wear, and can we change outfits?
Yes. The £350 package includes up to three outfits and a private portable changing room at your location. Choose clothes you feel comfortable moving in and coordinate colours without needing to match. Traditional clothing is welcome; allow time for any styling or accessories when planning your three looks.
What happens if it rains?
We review the forecast with you and discuss a suitable alternative, whether that is a sheltered location, different timing or rearranging the session. An indoor venue needs its own permission. Confirm the weather and rescheduling arrangements for your booking before the day.
When will we receive our engagement photos?
The full edited engagement gallery is normally delivered online within three to four weeks. Confirm the expected delivery date when booking, particularly if you need images for save-the-date cards, invitations or an engagement announcement. Image quantities and any earlier preview are agreed with your session.
Can we book engagement photography and wedding coverage together?
Yes. Tell Ikonic Media about both dates so we can discuss your £350 pre-wedding experience alongside wedding photography or film. Wedding photography starts from £850 for five hours and is a separate service. Your quote will state what is included in each booking.
Is a private changing room included in the pre-wedding package?
Yes. We bring a private portable changing room directly to your agreed location as part of the £350 package. You can change between up to three outfits on-site without needing to change in a car or travel elsewhere. We discuss a suitable set-up area and any venue permission during planning.
Does the £350 package include a photo slideshow?
Yes. Alongside professional editing and your online gallery, the £350 pre-wedding package includes a photo slideshow. You can share it with family, use it during your wedding celebrations or keep it as part of your story.
